I have the fondest memories of visiting my baba at her cottage as a kid. It was a tiny hand-built structure on the prettiest lakefront property with the most beautiful garden that she was always tending to. Pulling weeds, planting geraniums and herbs and getting the kids to find rocks for her to place as she liked, she always wore a short dress with glossy red plastic slip ons, with her bathing suit underneath. She was breathtaking, strong and busy in the best way, and always making time to take a dip (with us or alone - so glorious!), pick up a bushel of potatoes from the farm down the road, trim the beans for dinner and sit down for a gin and tonic while she did it and as the barbecue smoked. This dress reminds me of her and all the millions of things she did in a day and I can’t wait to wear mine in all the same wonderful ways that she would have.
